SHIATSU
Shiatsu
is a Chinese/Japanese form of therapeutic bodywork. It dates back
over 4000 years, but the impulse to touch and heal is as old as
humankind. Shiatsu is based on the same principles as acupuncture
- that vital energy, or 'Ki', flows throughout the body in a series
of channels known as 'meridians'. For many different reasons Ki
can stop flowing freely and this can produce a symptom or feeling
of dis-ease. Shiatsu is both a preventative and a healing art,
as it aims to restore and balance the human body and its energy
systems.
Shiatsu
means 'finger pressure' and works on the acupuncture meridians
and points. The technique relieves pain, relaxes mind and body
and restores energy. Shiatsu gives us a rest, time to take a break
and restore the harmony our bodies strive for.
Shiatsu
is becoming more popular as a safe, non-invasive form of treatment,
as we rediscover the benefits of touch therapy. It is useful in
releasing back pain, depression, insomnia, headaches, menstrual
problems, frozen shoulders, ME and much more. |
